Clement Allen,a British sinologist,published several translations of Tales From the Liao Chai Chil Yi in China Review,helping the spread of this novel in the western world.He used unique translation strategies and techniques to translate this novel with a personal interpretation.An analysis of his translation strategies and methods from the perspective of cognitive translatology is helpful to understand the research paradigm and translation practice of his interpretation of traditional Chinese literary works.
