摘要
短语动词是英语中的重要组成部分,也是英语词汇教学的重点和难点。文章运用基于语料库的对比分析法,探讨中国英语专业学生短语动词的使用情况,揭示他们使用短语动词的总体特征、不同种类短语动词的使用特征以及与英语本族语者使用相比的异同和原因。研究发现,英语专业学生在写作过程中不回避使用短语动词,他们的总体使用频率高于本族语者;语义透明短语动词明显被过度使用,比喻性短语动词使用不足。针对英语专业学生使用短语动词存在的问题,作者从短语动词的结构特征和学习者回避等方面进行分析,进而对英语短语动词的教学提出建议。
Phrasal verbs are the important part of English but also the key and difficult point of English vocabulary teaching. This paper applies a corpus-based approach to compare the use of phrasal verbs between Chinese English major students and native English students. The study reveals the overall characteristics of their use, the characteristics of different kinds of phrasal verbs, the similarities, differences and possible reasons. The study finds that English major students do not avoid using phrasal verbs in their writing process, and their overall use frequency is higher than that of native speakers;semantic transparent phrasal verbs are obviously overused, while figurative phrasal verbs are underused. In view of the problems of English major students, the author analyzes the characteristics of phrasal verbs and learners’ avoidance and then puts forward suggestions on the teaching of English phrasal verbs.
