Diabetic macular edema(DME)is the leading cause of visual loss in patients with diabetes mellitus.Optical coherence tomography(OCT)can reflect fine structures of the retina and choroid in the macular region and realize the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the tissues.Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA),a non-invasive technology developed based on OCT,can provide three-dimensional images of the vascular structure of the retina and choroid, achieving quantitative and stratified detection of lesions. It shows high efficiency and high resolution. The observation of macular retina morphology and microstructure by OCT and the evaluation of blood velocity change by OCTA have become research hotspots of DME.In this paper, the roles of OCT and OCTA biomarkers in DME progression and their application in anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drug therapy were described to provide a reference for evaluating the severity of DME,adjusting the therapeutic schedule and judging the prognosis.
