A large number of architectural components carved with passionflower patterns were unearthed in the ruins of the Zhongdu Imperial City built in the early Ming Dynasty. The study found that the passionflower pattern is different from the image before the introduction. It is based on the original image and integrates traditional Chinese decorative elements, and derives a composite image that carries the both expectations of rulers and labor groups. This composite image is based on the combined effect of many factors, such as the living environment of hard labor, the psychological environment of spiritual sustenance, and the social environment of nationality. It can be seen that the emergence of compound images of passionflower patterns in the stone carvings of Zhongdu in Ming Dynasty shows the cultural proposition that cultural differences between the East and the West are compatible and harmonious.
