Hermeneutics is usually regarded as one of the major schools in western philosophy and a significant research methodology whereas it is viewed as a new research field and new methodology applied in intercultural studies between philosophy and different languages.Hermeneutics in the narrow sense is defined as understanding and interpreting the texts, but in a broad sense,it can be developed to interpret the differences between Chinese and western academic research and philosophy if we make a comparative study between Chinese and western languages. The basic method is univocality of theoretical terms. That is,in translating the western philosophy terms into modern Chinese, polysemic western terms is to be expressed in univocal terms after interpreting the meaning of terms and providing theoretical evidence and use free translating method, which will bring about a lot of univocal terms in Chinese language so as to pave the way for innovative study of Chinese philosophy and linguistics. On the other hand, these innovations will feed back western academic research.Eventually, philosophy,as theoretical research, will overlap the differences in expressions between China and the west and become universal philosophy transcending differences between language and culture.Hermeneutics thus is further developed and obtain a solid theoretical ground.
