Using the strategic emerging industries in different districts of Lanzhou-Xining urban agglomeration as a sample, constructs the coefficient of variation of industrial spatial density to comprehensively measure the spatial structure of strategic emerging industries from the two dimensions of“scale”and“form”.At the same time, the paper examines the relationship between the spatial structure of strategic emerging industries and carbon emission intensity by using the panel regression model, threshold regression model and spatial Dobbin model. The research found that:(1)The spreading spatial structure of strategic emerging industries has a significant negative impact on carbon emission intensity.(2)With city size as the threshold variable, there is a single threshold for the impact of spreading development of strategic emerging industries on carbon emission intensity. When the city size crosses the threshold, the spreading development of strategic emerging industries will substantially have a more negative impact on carbon emission intensity.(3)The direct effect, indirect effect and total effect comprehensively reflect that the spreading development of local strategic emerging industries has a significant negative effect on the reduction of local carbon emissions.Consequently, the spreading evolution of the industrial spatial structure of neighboring cities will reduce the carbon emission intensity of that region.
