The paper aims to find out the gap between China and the world’s outstanding men’s decathlon sports performance in the events, and puts forward suggestions to narrow the gap in each event.Using the theory and method of grey system, the men’s decathlon in the 32 nd Olympic Games and the 14 th National Games are analyzed. The result shows, there is a clear gap between China and the world’s outstanding men’s decathlon sports performance. The difference between the individual scores and the total score is more than 100 points;the crossover among the individual events of the domestic outstanding players is not obvious enough, among which the100 m is significantly positively correlated with the long jump and 400 m(0.633≤r≤0.711,P<0.05),a significantly negative correlation between 1 500 m and high jump(r=-0.638,P<0.05);the contribution of each sub-item of the world’s outstanding athletes to the total score is relatively balanced. The sub-projects of China’s outstanding athletes show an uneven development.the contribution of the seven events of high jump, discus, long jump,100 m,110 m hurdles,400 m and shot is more than 10% to the total score, while the contribution of the weaker event 1 500 m is only 6.29 %.It is concluded to put the speed and speed endurance items as the core, develop basic strength training, and improve the body’s tolerance training to lactate threshold.
