摘要
早始新世气候适宜期(Early Eocene Climatic Optimum,简称EECO,53~51Ma)是新生代最重要的碳循环和气候扰动事件之一,深入了解其驱动机制对于我们更准确的预测和应对正在发生的全球变暖将具有重要的指导意义。本文根据最新研究结果,对该事件的驱动机制作一综述,主要包括以下几种观点:1)雷克雅内斯洋中脊扩张;2)伊豆-小笠原-马里亚纳海沟(IBM)一带弧前玄武岩大规模爆发;3)北美西部和东南亚地区大陆裂谷发育;4)风化作用减弱;5)岩石有机碳及硫化物氧化作用;6)银河系中星际暗物质的影响;7)大陆弧火山作用及其相关的变质脱碳;8)青藏高原南部林子宗火山岩大爆发。在系统综述其驱动机制的基础上,粗略估算了青藏高原南部早始新世林子宗火山岩爆发期的碳释放量,并探讨了其对EECO事件的驱动作用。
Early Eocene Climatic Optimum(EECO,53~51 Ma)is one of the most important warming events of the past 65 million years and associated with carbon cycle and climate disturbance.Investigating its driving mechanism is important for understanding the potential impact of ongoing global warming and its relationship to carbon release.This paper summarized the research progress concerning the driving mechanism of the EECO,which includes the following viewpoints:1)the spreading of the Reykjanes mid-ocean ridge;2)the flare-up of forearc basalts along the Izu-Bonin-Mariana(IBM);3)the development of continental rifts in western North America and Southeast Asia;4)the reduce of the weathering effect;5)the oxidation of rock organic carbon and sulfide minerals;6)the impact of dark matter in the galaxies;7)the continental arc volcanism and associated metamorphic decarbonization;8)the development of the Linzizong volcanic rocks in the southern Tibetan Plateau.Based on the systematic review,we roughly estimated the carbon emission of Early Eocene Linzizong volcanic rocks in the southern Tibetan Plateau,and discussed its potential contribution to the EECO event.
