摘要
显化策略是文学翻译中一种重要的翻译策略。本文以释意理论为基础,研究《高老头》四个汉译本中的显化策略,将译文中的文化负载词、修辞手法、影射以及互文现象等作为“显化标记”,旨在为法汉文学翻译中显化现象的普遍性提供理论依据。显化策略作为统称术语,涵盖很多具体的显化形式。显化策略也是文学译者对文本的主动干预,主要解决三类翻译困难:消除语义模糊、避免无意义表述以及抵消翻译损失。这三种情况构成《高老头》汉译中应用显化策略的主要动因。由于显化策略的应用,译者提高了翻译的忠实性、可读性、完整性和准确性。然而,译作也可能融入译者的主观阐释和再创作,在一定程度上改变原作内容和读者的“期待视野”。
Explicitation is an essential strategy in literary translation.The present article,based on the interpretative theory of translation,analyzes the phenomenon of explicitation in four Chinese versions of Le Père Goriot.Treating culture-loaded words,metaphors,allusions as well as intertextuality as the indicators of explicitation,the article proposes a theoretical foundation for the pervasiveness of explicitation in French-Chinese literary translation.The strategy of explicitation,as a generic term,includes a great number of concrete forms.Reflective of a literary translator’s active interventions in a text,such strategy aims at solving three principal translation problems:clarifying ambiguities,avoiding incomprehension,and compensating for losses in translation and eliminating misunderstandings.The three objectives constitute the primary motivations for explicitation in the Chinese translations of Le Père Goriot.The strategy of explicitation generally enhances the faithfulness,readability,completeness and accuracy of translations.However,the translator may likely incorporate also his own interpretations and recreation into the translated text,thus modifying to a certain degree the original text and target readers’horizon of expectations.
