Professor LI Shi-mao takes pulse diagnosis as the center, and believes that the movement of qi and blood is the basis for the formation of different pulse conditions. The clinical practice should focus on understanding the image of the lower pulse, rather than the number as the center, emphasizing that the overall pulse characteristics should be sensed to grasp the disease.Accurate differentiation and treatment can only be done based on the nature of the mechanism;the judgment criteria of string, moderate, slow, rapid, deficiency, looseness and tight pulse should be analyzed based on the characteristics of the pulse condition. He had creatively proposed ‘spasmodic pulse’ as the main cold and coagulation syndrome. These new clinical findings such as ‘impulse pulse’ as the main fire-stagnation syndrome have enriched the content of pulse diagnosis and improved the practical value of pulse diagnosis. Professor LI relied on pulse diagnosis, emphasizing that pulse cutting should be ‘emphasis on the pulse condition rather than the number’. It is emphasized that if the pulse diagnosis is to grasp the characteristics of the pulse condition,he pointed out the essence of TCM diagnosis of diseases, which is worthy of serious study.
