摘要
十卷本《中国近代教育史资料汇编》集合多位学者的辛劳与智慧,它的面世表征着中国教育史料学的一个高峰。全书嘉惠后学颇多,只是既为多人合作的作品,不可避免地存有一些瑕疵,如文件重复收录、归卷不当、要件缺失、从二手材料中转引,还有时间、人名的错失或不详,以及错字别字、脱落文字、点错句读等。这些可能是“整理的中国教育史料”难以避免的,而“影印的中国教育史料”则没有这些问题。然后者不便初学者使用,亦属事实。尽管这套十卷本《中国近代教育史资料汇编》有一些舛误,但只是白璧微瑕而已,其史料整理的思路与方法仍值得后学借鉴。
The ten-volume Compilation of Materials on China’s Modern Education History, which gathers the hard work and wisdom of many scholars, represents a peak of historical material study of China’s education. Though the compilation has been very helpful to later scholars, there are still some flaws, partly due to its co-authorship, such as unnecessary repetition of the same documents, improper filing, missing information, quotations from second-hand materials, wrong or unknown time and names,wrong characters, missing characters from the paper and wrong text segmentation. These errors might be inevitable for “compiled historical materials on China’s education”, while “photocopied historical materials on China’s education” can avoid this issue. However, it’s still a fact that the photocopied version hinders the study of beginners. Despite of the trivial errors, the ideas and methods of compilation of this book set are still worth learning.
