Under the background of the rapid rise of labor cost, exploring the impact of labor costs on the international competitiveness of manufacturing industry and the mechanism of technological innovation in it is particularly important for my country to build a manufacturing power.Based on the panel data of manufacturing industry from 2008 to 2017,this paper makes an empirical analysis through fixed effect model and intermediary effect influence mechanism. The results show that the rise of labor cost can enhance the international competitiveness of China s manufacturing industry, among which the impact on the international competitiveness of capital intensive manufacturing industry is the most significant; The increase of labor cost can“force”and encourage manufacturing industry to increase innovation input and output, and then enhance innovation ability; The rise of labor cost has a greater effect on the technological innovation ability of labor-intensive and capital-intensive manufacturing industries than that of technology-intensive manufacturing industries;Technological innovation plays a positive intermediary role between rising labor costs and the international competitiveness of manufacturing, and is an important focus for the improvement of manufacturing international competitiveness.
