摘要
盖斯凯尔夫人是19世纪英国著名的女性小说家,然而后世的一些批评家们指责其作品过于“女性化”,并被贬低为“次要的作家”,究其主要原因竟是认为盖斯凯尔夫人“不懂政治经济学”。盖斯凯尔夫人在《玛丽·巴顿》“前言”中那句“不懂政治经济学”的说辞显然是“自谦”,是避免笔墨官司的“托词”和“策略”,更是对19世纪庸俗的政治经济学的“抗拒”与“反讽”。她尖锐地批判了“富人的政治经济学”“逐利”“剥夺”“冷酷”的本性,是漠视穷苦大众“生存”与“情感”的“计量”经济学,并试图建构蕴含生存伦理、沟通伦理、责任伦理、富有情感的“穷人的道德经济学”。
Mrs.Gaskell was a famous British female novelist in the 19^(th) century.However,some critics criticized her work for being too“feminine”and downgraded her as a“secondary writer”for she is believed to“not understand political economy”.In fact,Mrs.Gaskell’s words of“not understanding political economy”in the introduction of Mary Barton are obviously her modesty,an“excuse”and“strategy”to avoid getting involved in battle of words,even a“resistance”and“irony”to the vulgar political economy in the 19^(th) century.She criticized the nature of the“political economy of the rich”:“seeking profits”,“deprivation”and“cruelness”.It was an“econometric”economics that ignored the“survival”and“emotion”of the poor masses.She tried to construct the“moral economics of the poor”which covers survival ethics,communication ethics,responsibility ethics and emotional ethics.
