摘要
乔治·梅瑞狄斯是英国维多利亚晚期著名作家和诗人,喜剧精神是其创作思想的核心,他的作品以个性化的表现手法和注重心理描写而享誉英国文坛。20世纪20年代,梅瑞狄斯作品被现代主义作家诟病为人物形象概念化、作者意图过于明显等不足,作品研究热度逐渐退去。新世纪,随着文学理论不断丰富,以及跨学科文学研究方法逐步成熟,梅瑞狄斯作品研究被赋予新视角,尤其以叙事学、小说文体学和生态批评研究为重要研究方法。
George Meredith was a famous writer and poet in late Victorian England.Comic spirit was the core of his creative thought.His works were well-received in the British literary world for his individualized techniques in representation and emphasis on psychological description.However,in 1920s,Meredith's works were criticized by modernist writers for the conceptualization of characters and the overly obvious intentions of the author,so the research heat gradually faded.In the new century,with the constant enrichment of literary theories and the growing maturity of interdisciplinary literary research methods,the research on Meredith's works has been offered with new perspectives,especially with narratology,novel stylistics and ecocriticism as important research methods.
