It is well-known by its abundant illustrations and peculiar etiology “Hara No Mushi”. This paper introduces the background and content of Harikikigaki. On this basis, the features of the illustrations, Japanese understanding of the etiology of “Hara No Mushi”, as well as the therapeutic principles of it are analyzed. The differences between the etiological system in the book and the one mostly appeared in China are explained. The characteristics of acupuncture theory in this book include lacking of channel theory, taking zang-fu theory as the principle, and attaching attention to reinforcement and reduction therapy. This paper holds that the acupuncture therapy in Harikikigaki is in fact branched from Chinese theory of acupuncture and moxibustion. In addition, this paper puts forward that there are multicultural factors in Harikikigaki.
