摘要
Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)is one of the most common medical conditions affecting pregnant women.GDM causes increasing concern to obstetricians,and it is associated with early complications and long-term effects for both mothers and their newborns.1,2 After the two-child policy was fully implemented in China,the incidence of GDM increased further.The diagnostic criteria of GDM have continuously evolved since the emergence of new evidence.There are many important issues such as how to manage the large population of GDM in China,especially in the rural areas.It has been reported the risk of GDM among different ethnic groups is varied,and data from Chinese mainland are lacking in the Hyperglycemia and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes(HAPO)study/However,it has been proved that the GDM diagnostic criteria according to HAPO study was suitable for China.Here,we aim to focus on the challenges of diagnosis and management strategies for GDM and discuss the proper recommendations on the diagnosis and management of GDM in China.
