Empresses and Imperial Concubines’Biographies in Liao Shi and Qidan Guo Zhi copied the narrative modes from official histories of the dynasties in China Proper time.Meanwhile, these biographies derived from myths and legends of Qidan ethnic group,Manichaeism and Buddhism.Their historical writing presented the feature of plural cultures and ethnic groups, and modeled the images which rulers and elite group expected. The historical writing distinctly or indistinctly displayed powerful structure and ideology function in the Liao Dynasty.Especially,Empresses and Imperial Concubines’Biographies in Liao Shi tried to argue for the legitimacy of empresses themselves and their families taking part in political affairs. They played assistant role to imperial power in the political pattern of the Liao Dynasty.
