摘要
《宠儿》是托妮·莫里森的代表作,长期以来,人们多关注小说中黑人和女性的困境与自我挣扎,而忽略其中更具普世价值对整个社会精神困境的反思和对其出路的探索。文章借用申丹的隐性进程理论,揭示出《宠儿》对于人类精神缺失的书写反映了当时美国社会自我精神构建知识的贫乏,同时莫里森还通过爱弥这一人物表现出她对精神上充实的人类的构想,鼓励人们坚持自己信念从而免于被社会的畸形准则所挤压。
Beloved is one of Toni Morrison’s representative works.For a long time,scholars pay more attention to the self-struggle of black men and women in the novel,but ignore the author’s reflection on the spiritual plight of the whole American society and the exploration of its way out,which include some more universal values.Through Shen Dan’s theory of covert progression,this paper reveals that the writing about the spiritual loss in Beloved reflects the lack of human self-spiritual construction of American society at that time.Then this paper analyzes how the character Amy,by her persistence to faith,encourages people to stick to their beliefs and avoid being distorted by the abnormal norms of society.
