Indignation is a short story written by Philip Roth,a famous American writer. It narrates from the first person perspective and presents the narrator Marcus’life experiences to the readers.A large part of the dialogue reproduces the way Marcus gets along with the people around him and his psychological state. From the perspective of narratology, this paper finds that the narrator’s narration is unreliable and has strong subjectivity, which is consistent with the author’s concern and thinking about practical problems. This reveals the narrator Marcus’individual psychology and behavior of seeking advantages and avoiding disadvantages, which leads readers to think about the ethical implications of the novel.
