Morality is an established code of conduct and social norms recognized and followed by people, and it is one of the advanced ideologies of human society.Metaphor is not only a shallow-level language rhetoric, but also a new and powerful cognitive mechanism. With the help of the cognitive sword of metaphor, abstract and profound moral concepts can be expressed and understood.Taking contemporary metaphorology as a new theoretical threshold, this paper carries out an interlingual comparison of the metaphorical expressions of moral concepts in Chinese and English, and conducts the in-depth excavation and sorting out of the motivations and incentives. The metaphorical expressions of morality in Chinese and English are based on the common cognitive experience shared by human beings, displaying the higher degree of universality.Such source domains as space, body, and plant are mapped onto the moral concepts in two languages. In the meantime, the great disparity in cultural backgrounds of different nationalities results in plenty of subtle divergences between the two.
