Objective To explore the clinical effects of high-quality nursing care for elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery in the perioperative period to prevent postoperative infection. Methods A total of 84 elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery admitted to the hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were selected as the research objects, and they were randomly divided into two groups, namely the control group with routine perioperative care(n=42),compared with the experimental group(n=42)that used high-quality care during the perioperative period, compared the two groups of patients including postoperative infection, postoperative recovery and patient satisfaction rate. Results The postoperative infection rate of the experimental group using perioperative high-quality care was 9.52%,which was significantly lower than the 54.76%postoperative infection rate of the control group using only conventional perioperative care, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=15.220,P<0.05).In addition, the experimental group including postoperative recovery related indicators and nursing satisfaction rate were also significantly better than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion High-quality perioperative care can effectively reduce the postoperative infection rate of elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery, shorten the recovery time, and is widely praised by patients.
