摘要
文章对“红楼”之义及其历史衍变作了考察。认为“红”的含义经历了由粉红变为朱红的演变过程,“楼”有楼台与重屋两种形制。“红”与“楼”皆具贵族属性,故“红楼”之本义为富贵者居住的朱红色楼房。“红楼”词义在晚唐以后渐变为妓女住所的代名词,其缘由有三一、唐宋以后,“红楼”成为妓女的重要活动场所;二、“红楼”成为花间派艳情描写的空间;三、扬州歌舞伎艺兴盛,冶游扬州“红楼”者甚众,杜牧可为代表。虽然杜牧是用“青楼”表示扬州妓居,但自宋代开始,文人提及杜牧狎妓,多用“红楼”代之。最后说明“红楼”与“青楼”之异同,二者皆“艳”,然前者“贵”后者“贱”。
This article examines the name of"Hong Lou"and its historical evolution.Arguing that:"Red"has undergone the evolution process from referring to pink to referring to vermilion and"Mansion"has two forms:"Lou Tai","Chong Wu".Both"Hong"and"Lou"have noble attributes,so the original meaning of"Hong Lou"is the vermilion building where the rich live.The meaning of"Hong Lou"gradually became synonymous with the residence of prostitutes after the late Tang Dynasty.There are three reasons for this.Firstly,after the Tang and Song Dynasties,the"Hong Lou"became an important venue for prostitutes.Secondly,"Hong Lou"has become a space for the description of erotic love in Hua Jian School.Thirdly,with the prosperity of Yangzhou Kabuki,many literati had traveled to the"Hong Lou"in Yangzhou,and Du Mu would be a representative.Although Du Mu used the term"Qing Lou"to refer to the residences of prostitutes in Yangzhou,since the Song Dynasty,when literati referred to Du Mu's"Qing Lou",they often replaced them with"Hong Lou".Finally,this article explains the similarities and differences between"Hong Lou"and"Qing Lou",both of which are"gorgeous",but the former is"noble"and the latter is"humble".
