Objective To explore the effect of alternating electric field on improving sleep disorders in the elderly. Methods From August 2020 to December 2020,81 volunteers were admitted to hospital and some communities reported that they may have sleep problems, including 40 males and 41 females, with an average age of 63 years. The enrolled population is divided into long-term intervention group(mainly from the community, use time greater than 30 days)and short-term intervention group according to the use time of the instrument and recruitment area, mainly from hospitalized patients, use time not less than 5 days),and the short-term control group do not use equipment. Before and after the follow-up,the subjects’sleep and immunology and other hematological indicators were collected. The results were compared with the control group and the subjects before the alternating electric field intervention. Results After the intervention, the subjects in the long-term or short-term intervention group showed a decrease in the rate of difficulty falling asleep,a decrease in the frequency of waking up at night, and daily decrease the rate of sleepiness between time and have a better effect. However, the above indicators in the control group did not change significantly before and after the intervention.Compared with the long-term and short-term intervention groups, there was no significant difference between the sleep indicators for extended intervention time.In addition, the alternating electric field has no significant effect on immunological indicators such as C-reactive protein and other serological indicators. Conclusion This study indecates that the use of alternating electric field may have a better effect on patients with sleep disorders.
