Objective:To evaluate the effect of community intervention on self-management ability of elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods:120 cases of KOA patients from 2 communities were selected, they were randomly divided into two groups with 60 cases in each group. The self-management manual of knee osteoarthritis was issued in both groups. On this basis, the experimental group received a 6 months of community intervention.Self-management ability score, osteoarthritis index(WOMAC)score and quality of life(AIMS2-SF)score were compared between the two groups. Results:The score of self-management ability scale in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After intervention, the WOMAC scale score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The AIMS2-SF score of the experimental group was better than that of the control group after intervention, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Community intervention can significantly enhance the self-management behavior of KOA patients, thus improve the knee bone function and improve the quality of life of patients.
