The Hungry Tide is the representative work of contemporary Indian English novelist Amitav Ghosh.By describing the relationship between the Indian Bengal tiger and the human inhabitants, the author shows the unique ecological view of the local aborigines, highlights the heterogeneity of eastern and Western cultures, and sets up a platform for ecological dialogue between the Indian indigenous culture and the western mainstream culture.Ghosh advocates a broader ecological agenda in his novels:that is,he hopes that people should not only pay attention to the fate of the earth and non-human residents, but also pay attention to the living conditions of vulnerable groups, break through the opposition between human and nature put forward by western dualism, and build a sustainable and harmonious environment between human and non-human.
