Employing postmodern narrative techniques,Colum McCann in his novel TransAtlantic interweaves personal experiences and grand history and attempts to establish connectedness in the fluidity and uncertainty.His contemplation on issues such as war and peace,bondage and freedom,individuality and collectivity exhibit his humanistic concerns.Despite all the differences,contingency and fluidity,communication and empathy remain the core elements for the construction of a community of shared future in the postmodern context.
