In the play The Devil's Disciple,morality and ethics are still the kernels,and George Bernard Shaw expresses the thoughts and connotations of serious drama in the form of a melodrama.The actors,plots and historical background all reflect Shaw’s concerns on Puritanism and the reality in Victorian era.In this drama,actors’behavior highlights that Bernard Shaw ruminates on religious ethics,and the transformation of identities is his innovation to explore the new significance of Puritanism.The plot twists and historical background demonstrate his multidimensional attention on professional ethics,political ethics,family and marriage ethics and his desire for new ethical relationships among people.In short,this drama for Puritans not only conveys Shaw's consideration of religious ethics,but also hints at his concerns on social morality.
