Objective To explore the application effect of balloon anal catheter in pediatric retention enema. Methods A total of 100 cases of Children with MRI examination were selected from January to October,2018 in Pediatric outpatient department of a Class 3 first class hospital in a district, which were divided into control group(n=49) and observation group(n=51) according to the single and even number of visit date. The control group was given traditional anal administration, and the observation group was given with balloon anal catheter retention method.Application effect(defecation rate within 10 minutes, drug overflow rate, effective completion rate, anal slippage rate) were compared between the two groups, and the incidence of complications were observed. Results The observation group of defecation rate within 10 minutes, drug spillover rate and anal slippage rate were lower than control group, and the effective completion rate was higher than control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of anorectal mucosal injury between the two groups(P>0.05).The incidence of crying uncooperative in the observation group was lower than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application effect of balloon anal catheter in pediatric retention enema is better, which can improve the retention amount of drugs required, improve the compliance of children, and has high safety.
