With the rapid development of Virtual Reality(VR),its application in education has undergone steady increment. This study intends to fulfill the testing needs of future virtual reality learning environment(VRLE),and to investigate the contextualized redesign of traditional personality tests and its application in VRLE.Taking the Rod and Frame Test(RFT)and Matching Familiar Figures Task(MFFT)as examples, cognitive style tests were redesigned and applied in VRLE.The researchers chose Embedded Figure Test(EFT)and MFFT for investigation of criterion-related validity, and the effect, reliability, and validity of these VR cognitive style tests were compared with those of the traditional cognitive style tests. The present findings suggest that the homogeneity, reliability, and criterion-related validity of results obtained from VR cognitive style tests are good compared with the results of traditional cognitive style tests. Therefore,VR cognitive style tests can be used to replace traditional cognitive tests in VRLE,and contextualized redesign is an effective method to obtain new tools of personality test.Applying the cognitive style tests in VRLE and providing suitable education design for different students can improve the usability and user experience of virtual classroom and promote the development and application of virtual classroom.
