摘要
美国民俗学是美国文化研究的一个分支,但在学科发展上却比美国文化研究的形成晚了一个世纪。美国民俗学在学科形成之初就存在着收集移民民俗事项的传统,但在美国族群政策的演变过程以及学科的建制与发展过程中,其关注视角逐渐发生变化:学科形成前“我者”与“他者”相对立的抽离式移民民俗研究传统被传承、保存下来,并逐渐内化于移民同化与社会融入研究之中,继而又进一步发展为民俗认同研究。美国民俗学移民研究传统的形成和深化不仅为美国移民与族裔研究提供了更多的研究素材和经验材料,为美国华裔的民俗与认同研究奠定了基础,也拓展了中国民俗学的研究视野,更为民俗研究的国际学术交流与互鉴提供了可能。
American folklore is a branch of American cultural studies,but its disciplinary development is a century later than the formation of American cultural studies.Before it became a discipline,American folklore had had the tradition of collecting immigrant folklore.But with the evolution of the country’s ethnic policies and in the process of the establishment and development of the discipline,its focus gradually changed:before the formation of the discipline,the tradition of detached immigrant folklore studies with“ego”opposite to“the otherness”was inherited and preserved,and was internalized with the study of immigrant assimilation and social integration,then further developed into folklore identity research.The formation and deepening of the tradition of immigration study in American folklore not only provides more material and experience for U.S.immigration and ethnic research,but also lays the foundation for Chinese-American’s folklore and identity research.It also expands the field of Chinese folklore,and provides more possibilities for folklore studies to have international academic exchange and mutual learning.
