“弱意愿”英语专业大学生英语学习动机研究

An Investigation of Involuntary University English Majors’Learning Motivation

摘要 使用问卷法调查了135名英语专业大学生的英语学习动机。结果显示“弱意愿”英语专业大学生的内在兴趣学习动机值居于高位,长远工具动机和短时工具动机交错排列。在七类动机中,大学二年级学生的内在兴趣动机、出国动机、个人发展动机均显著高于三年级;大学二年级学生的出国动机还显著高于一年级;成绩、信息媒介、学习环境、社会责任动机在三个年级之间不存在显著差异。这些结果表明大学二年级学生的英语学习动机最强,三年级学生的三类主要动机消退明显。调查结果对英语专业教学与学生管理均有一定的启发意义。 This study investigates the English learning motivation of 135 university English majors with a questionnaire.The participants are distributed from freshmen to junior,among them are a high percentage of students who were transferred from their preferred programs to English in the enrollment of university.Results indicate intrinsic interest plays a leading role in these weak voluntary English majors’learning motivation,while personal development,achieving good grades,learning English as a medium for learning other knowledge also occupy important positions.About changes of motivations,sophomores’intrinsic interest motivation,personal development motivation and going abroad motivation are significantly higher than those of juniors,and the average value of sophomores’going abroad motivation is also significantly higher than that of freshmen.The findings of this study are insightful for English teaching and student management.
