Objective To analyze the effect of PDCA cycle management method to standardize the rational use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)in the elderly. Methods A total of 180 elderly patients treated with NSAIDs were divided into pre-implementation(October 2018 to March 2019)and postimplementation(April December 2019)according to the implementation of PDCA cycle method, with 90 cases in each group. The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs before and after implementation were collected. Results After implementation, the correct rate of usage and dosage was 100.00%,and the combined medication rate was 98.89%,which were higher than 68.87%and 80.00%before implementation;the course of treatment was(8.01±0.21)d,which was shorter than(10.12±0.36)d before implementation, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After implementation, the rational selection rate of NSAIDs was 98.89%,and the drug explanation rate was 77.78%,which were higher than 78.89%and 35.56%before implementation;the use rate of gastrointestinal preventive drugs was 70.00%,and the incidence of adverse reactions 2.22%,which were lower than 97.78%and 26.76%before implementation, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion PDCA cycle management method can effectively promote the rational use of NSAIDs in the elderly, which is worthy of promotion.
