OBJECTIVE To understand the status of malaria-borne vector population and density after elimination of malaria in Suzhou, and to provide a reference basis for risk assessment of local secondary infections caused by imported malaria after elimination of malaria. METHODS From June to October 2019,7 counties(districts)under the jurisdiction of Suzhou City were selected to monitor the population and density of Anopheles mosquitoes by the all-night mosquito trapping method and the half-night human trapping method;500 ml was used in the paddy field and surrounding irrigation water bodies and other environments. 20 scoops of water were applied to observe the density of Anopheles larvae. RESULTS A total of 40 Anopheles sinensis were captured indoors in Suzhou from June to October in 2019,with a density of 0.19/(light · night),and 44 Anopheles sinensis were captured outside, with a density of 0.21/(light · night). A total of 89 Anopheles sinensis were captured by semi-overnight human lure in June-October 2019,with an average biting rate of 0.21/(person · h). The density was 0.37 bars/spoon with larvae of Anopheles sinensis in rice fields and surrounding environment in June-October 2019. CONCLUSION After the elimination of malaria, the main vectors of malaria in Suzhou were Anopheles sinensis, and the presence of Anopheles anthropophagus was not detected. The density of Anopheles sinensis in June-October 2019 was lower than previous years.
