The so-called slave narrative mainly refers to the autobiographical records written or dictated by the former slaves who had been freed from the 18th to the middle of the 20th century.As an important historical and literary form reflecting the history of African Americans,slave narratives of American did not enter the horizon of Chinese historians until recent years.The new book A Study on the Slave Narratives of America by Gao Chunchang,a scholar of African Americans history and the professor of the History and Culture Faculty of Ludong University,is an inspiring and detailed work on the current American slave narrative research.This book and A Study of the Religious Narrative of the American Slaves published in 2016 constituted the author’s study system of American slave narration,and enriched the perspective and direction of domestic slave research.
