Humanitarian emergencies and crises are a series of events causing the breakdown of society and the health care system, forced displacement, and even death. The current health systems’response to humanitarian crises often focuses on the treatment of physical diseases, ignoring the total suffering. In 2018,the World Health Organization published a practical guide of integrating palliative care and symptom relief into responses to humanitarian emergencies and crises, which is aimed at helping the medical systems and organization, and health workers to implement integrate care. The present interpretation intends to introduce the important concept of humanitarian emergencies and palliative care, and explains the features of palliative care implementation, essential package, and self-care of the medical team in humanitarian emergencies and crises.
