Providing safe drinking water to developing and developed countries is a great challenge. Growing demand and deteriorating water quality in water sources have led to the exploration of new technological innovations to better manage water. Nanotechnology has great promise in ensuring safe drinking water by designing innovative centralized and decentralized(household level) water treatment systems. In this paper, the latest progress of nanotechnology in water treatment process(family level) is summarized. Its working principle is nano adsorbent, photocatalyst, microbial disinfectant and membrane. The widespread implementation of nanotechnology for water treatment will require overcoming the high cost of nanomaterials to enable their reuse and reuse Born. This will also ensure that potential environmental exposure is minimized. potential advances in nanotechnology must go hand in hand with environmental health to mitigate any adverse consequences for humans.
