摘要
魏建功是我国语言文字学家、教育家,也是新中国第一家国家级辞书编纂机构——新华辞书社的社长。新华辞书社于1950年8月创建,12月由出版总署编审局转隶人教社,1956年7月撤销。其间,他主持编写并题写书名的《新华字典》,是新中国第一部现代汉语规范字典。这既是魏建功和新华辞书社为人民为社会做的一件功德无量的大好事,也是叶圣陶先生领导的人教社为新中国奉献的除了中小学各科教科书之外的又一份厚礼。
Wei Jiangong(1901-1980) is a linguist and educator in China. Xinhua Dictionary Agency, which he founded in August 1950, is the first national organization for dictionary compiling in the People’s Republic of China. In December of the same year, the agency was transferred from the State Administration of Publication to People’s Education Press, and Wei Jiangong served as a member of the cooperative affairs committee of the press and the president of the agency. During this time, he presided over the compilation of Xinhua Dictionary, which was the first standard modern Chinese dictionary in the People’s Republic of China, and left his autograph as the book title. This is not only a great thing that Wei Jiangong and Xinhua Dictionary Agency have done for the people and the society, but also a great gift from the People’s Education Press led by Mr. Ye Shengtao in addition to the primary and secondary school textbooks for the New China.
