摘要
唐乾陵陪葬墓的发掘是20世纪重要的考古收获,其中发现的众多精彩壁画尤为引人注意。在这批壁画中最常被引用的章怀太子墓墓道东西两侧的壁画《客使图》(图一;图二),自发表以来,迄今已40多年,但是对于它的内容题材以及画中人物身份的研究却长期没有降温。有关这两幅壁画解说的各种不同观点纷至迭出。
By examining previous interpretations of the“Mural of Guests and Envoys”from the tomb of Crown Prince Zhanghuai of the Tang Dynasty and conducting an in-depth study of the original painting and historical documents,the author offers a fresh interpretation.The“Mural of Guests and Envoys”is a ritualized image that represents the identity of Crown Prince Zhanghuai as royal supervisor rather than depicting a funerary scene.The Tang offi cials depicted in the mural painting on the east wall are likely the Gentleman Attendant at the Palace Gate(Huangmen Shilang),Vice Director(Zhongshu Shilang)and other offi cials of the Chancellery rather than the offi cials of the Department of Diplomatic Reception(Honglu si).The offi cials depicted on the west wall are likely the Vice Minister of Rites,the Director of the Bureau of Receptions and other offi cials of the Ministry of Rites.The mural represents a ceremonial scene of tribute acceptance from foreign envoys and thus should be named the“Mural of Foreign Envoys in Court.”
