摘要
"周人称夏"的"夏"字并不指代夏王朝,最初具有"西"的训诂意义,表示"西土周邦"。周人以"夏"作为一种指称,是殷人借助政治力量和书写系统命名的,起初属于"她称"。周人通过"文王受命",将"夏"的名号占为己有,变为"自称",成为显示作为"西土之人"领导地位的标志。成康以后文献中不见"夏"字,表明"夏"已不再适合作为"天下共主"的名号。春秋战国时期,随着统治秩序的稳固,"华夏"与"夷狄"的概念出现,与"周人称夏"的关联更为稀疏。
The word"xia",in the statement that"the Zhou People recognize themselves as the descendants of the Xia People",does not refer to the Xia Dynasty,and originally possesses an exegetical meaning of"xi"(the west)that stands for"xitu zhoubang"(the western territory in the Zhou Dynasty)."Xia",as a referent,was named by the Yin People who employed the political power and writing system,which was originally a kind of"the third-person referent".By virtue of the claim that Emperor Wen was authorized to govern the world,the Zhou People occupied the"Xia"as their title,changing it to"the first-person referent",which signaled their leadership as"the people in the western territory".Since Emperor Cheng and Kang Reign Period in the Western Zhou Dynasty,"xia",as a word,had disappeared in the literature,indicating that"Xia"was no longer a title suitable for"tianxia gongzhu"(the universal governor of all the states).During the Spring and Autumn Period,and the Warring States Period,the concept of"Huaxia"and"Yidi"appeared as the ruling order came to be stable,which was more alienated from its association with the statement that"the Zhou People recognize themselves as the descendants of the Xia People".
