Climate Change Fiction(Cli-Fi) has been developing quickly since the 1990 s, and has emerged as a new genre in the environmental discourse of the Anthropocene. The German scholar Antonia Mehnert’s academic monograph Climate Change Fictions: Representations of Global Warming in American Literature analyzes 12 contemporary American Cli-Fi narratives, focusing on time and space transformation, risk consciousness and ethical concerns involved in these texts, and highlights the cultural and political logic of the writers in their pursuit of environmental justice. By doing that, the monograph concretizes the peril of climate crises in American society. Philosophers, writers and critics are unanimously thinking and writing about the negative consequences of human activities on the systematic working of the earth, aiming to raise the awareness of risks and environmental ethics among global readership and scholarship, and call for sensible mitigation of climate crises globally, which pushes forward the planetary turn of Ecocriticism in the new century.
