摘要
在剧作《美国戏剧》中,苏珊·洛莉-帕克斯借助“林肯游戏”呈现了当下美国社会中的两大问题,即根深蒂固的种族主义思维和黑人身份困境。一方面,顾客玩家假借游戏之名对黑人扮演的林肯总统实施暴力,使游戏成为种族主义者集体狂欢的暴力景观。另一方面,游戏中黑人“林肯”的含混性模仿揭示了模仿者对林肯总统及其代表的白人主流话语的矛盾态度。此外,白面具和黑身体的悖论式组合暗示了黑人模仿者自我认知上的身份阈限困境。“林肯游戏”为观众提供了一个介于真实与想象之间、既连接现实又解构现实的另类空间,充分演绎了剧场作为文学异托邦和文化异托邦的双重功能。
In The America Play,Suzan-Lori Parks employs the game of“Lincoln Act”to present two serious social problems in contemporary America,i.e.,deep-rooted racialism and black people’s dilemma of identity.On the one hand,the customer players,in the disguise of the game,perform violence on“President Lincoln”impersonated by a black man,which transforms the game to a violent carnival of racialists.On the other hand,the performance of the black impersonator presents itself an ambiguous mimicry,which reveals his ambivalent attitude to Lincoln and the mainstream discourse of the white-dominated society Lincoln stands for.In addition,for the black impersonator,the paradoxical hybrid of the white mask and the black body indicates his cognitive recognition of his liminal identity.The“Lincoln Act”provides the audience with an“other space”,in-between reality and fiction,which connects with the world of reality but deconstructs it.In this way,the game presents dual functions of theatre serving as both literary heterotopia and cultural heterotopia.
