摘要
《柳州山水近治可游者记》是柳宗元在柳州所作的"记山水"的奇文,其纳诸多山水于一篇,"无起无收,无照无应"的结构及行文不带主观情感等特点,与柳氏的其他同类作品如《永州八记》等绝不相同,颇为明清以来文家所欣赏。此文之所以写得如此奇特,主要由于作者有独特的写作动机。柳宗元在柳州身为刺史,有心一展其"辅时及物"之抱负,于州政用力极勤,常自叹无暇游览山水。而此文记录柳州附近十几处山水,篇幅之长为柳氏"记山水"诸作之最,费时费力不少,联系唐代州郡修纂图经风气以及柳州无完善图经于政事颇有不便等背景看,此文的写作应有为柳州新修图经提供山水地理方面参考材料的意图,仍与政事相关。故在写法上,此文也效仿图经,其以一文而写诸多山水和奇特的结构与行文特点乃唐代图经记录山水的一般方式。图经写法与《山海经》《水经注》等书写法本来相通,昔人因之将柳氏此文之奇特溯源于此等古书,是可谓知"古典"而不知"今典",于此文特色之认识与欣赏不免未达一间。
Landscape Essay in Liuzhou Area written by Liu Zongyuan in Liuzhou is a wonder prose of landscape. It contains several hills and rivers and its structure seems to have no beginning and ending with the prosy characteristic of no subjective emotion.These features are different from those of his Yongzhou Ba Ji,which is especially appreciated by literati since Ming and Qing Dynasties. The reason why this prose is peculiar because Liu has the unique writing motivation. Liu Zongyuan was prefectural governor in Liuzhou. He was very eager to do the job well according to the needs of people. So he spent a lot of energy on government affairs and often sighed that he hadn’t any time to visit the hills and waters. But this prose recorded a dozen mountains and rivers near Liuzhou,which was the longest and most time-consuming of his works about landscape,so it would take plenty of time and energy to finish it.In connection with the background that the state in Tang Dynasty needed compile local Tujing and the imperfect Liuzhou Tujing was quite inconvenient for govenment affairs,the writing of this prose should be intended to provide the reference materials for the hills and waters in a new Liuzhou Tujing,which was still related to the government affairs. Therefore,the writing style of this prose also emulated Tujing. In other words,it described many hills and waters without beginning and ending as well as subjective emotion and these characters of the prose were the general way in the state Tujing of Tang Dynasty. Because the writing style of the Tujing was similar to that of The Classic of Mountains and Rivers and Shuijing Zhu,the critics of the past always traced the features of Liu’s this prose back to these ancient books. So it was appreciated as the classics without emphasizing the current importance. This overlook of realistic background would be difficult to really understand and appreciate this prose.
