The paper points out that the Writing for Print:Publishing and the Making of Textual Authority in Late Imperial China written by Suyoung Son attaches importance to choice literature, and on this basis studies the history of the book in late imperial China, clearing the doubt that the studies of the book history cannot accommodate the historical context of ancient China. The paper fully recognizes Son's innovative interpretations of why Yu Chu Xinzhi was banned, particularly her viewpoint that the strict censorship of serial publications like Yu Chu Xinzhi should not be examined from the perspectives of getting the literati community more united and threatening the governance of late imperial China only.
