In the traditional concept of most engineers and technicians, electronic countermeasure, which is also called EW( Electronic Warfare),belongs to the electronic specialty of engineering. The EW technique and equipment are mainly considered in this field. This only reflects some attributes of EW in natural science. In fact,EW is also a special operation combined with attack and defense, which is an important research object of military science, too. Therefore, the main research points of EW in military science are focused on in this paper. The characteristics of close combination of technique and tactics about EW equipment are analyzed, then the important role and status of EW historical research are highlighted. It reflects the significant attributes of EW specialty in social science and different characteristics from radar and communication specialty. It can be seen that EW is at the intersection of engineering and military science, and it is also the common concerned object of natural science and social science. It shows the unique breadth and integrity of EW specialty. It provides another new reference for the future development and construction of the EW specialty.
