Objective To investigate the prevalence of helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection and its correlations with homocysteine(Hcy) and metabolic syndrome(MS) in physical examination population, so as to provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of Hp infection and related diseases. Methods A total of 3551 health examinees from the medical examination center of Affiliated Hospital of Guilin Medical College in 2018 were tested for Hp infection by 14C-urea test. The levels of fasting blood glucose, lipid and Hcy were measured. The infection rate of Hp was analyzed by SPSS18.0 statistical software. The levels of fasting blood glucose, lipid and Hcy were measured. The metabolic indicators were compared between infected and non-infected groups. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the correlations between Hp infection and Hcy or MS. Results The total infection rate of Hp was 40.7%(1 445/3 551), 25.3%(898/3 551) in males, and 15.4%(547/3 551) in females. The infection rate in males was higher than that in females, and there was no significant difference in infection rate among ages and genders(P>0.05). The serum concentration of Hcy and the detection rate of Hcy in the infected group were significantly higher than those in the non-infected group(P<0.05). Hcy and MS were independent risk factors for Hp infection(P<0.05). Conclusion Hp infection is positively correlated with Hcy and MS.
