走出道德困境——辜鸿铭儒家典籍英译的积极话语分析

摘要 文章在评价系统框架下,采用平行语料库考察辜鸿铭《论语》《中庸》英译本中态度、介入和级差三大语义评价资源,重点从词汇层面分析辜译本中评价修饰语的特征和典型异常搭配所体现的积极评价义。研究发现,辜氏借助评价修饰语、引证与认同、强化与聚焦等词汇语法手段,通过评价将个体意识形态融入译文,表达他对儒家道德哲学思想的认同,并传递给读者。辜氏的翻译活动在一定程度上有助于消解中西方社会矛盾,对于西方社会走出道德困境也有积极意义。 Within the framework of appraisal theory,this study,by adopting the parallel corpus,makes a positive discourse analysis of the attitude,engagement and graduation resources in Gu Hongming’s English translations of Lunyu and Zhongyong,focusing on the features of evaluative epithets and positive evaluations of untypical collocation.It has been found that Gu infuses individual ideology into his translation via such lexical and grammatical devices as evaluative epithets,endorse and concur,intensification and focus when representing the evaluations,aiming to express his agreement of Confucius moral philosophy.Gu’s translation plays a positive role in resolving the contradiction between China and the West and helps western society out of moral dilemma.
