高罗佩The Chinese Maze Murders自译的社会学解读

摘要 运用布迪厄的社会学理论,将高罗佩置身于当时的翻译、文学及更高的权力场域中,分析高罗佩对The Chinese Maze Murders的自译行为,发现高罗佩在翻译时对场域中的规则是有选择性地遵从。遵从的部分表现在他充分发挥自己的文化资本优势,依照文学场域的规则,增强了小说的文学性与可读性。不遵从的部分表现在违反当时的翻译场域、文学场域及权力场域的规则,在外国侦探小说翻译之风正劲之时选择翻译中国题材的公案小说,以及如实翻译敏感情节。遵守规则是为了积累资本,但不遵守规则是出于译者独特的文学、研究者及作者惯习,而且惯习所形成的行为或许有利于场域的发展进步。 Drawing on Bourdieu's sociology theory,this paper analyzes Robert van Gulik's self-translation of The Chinese Maze Murder by putting him in translation,literature and the higher power fields of his time.This paper finds that Robert van Gulik does not always follow the rules in the corresponding fields.In terms of improving the translation s literariness and readability,which are the rules in literary field,he gives full play to his cultural capital to make the translation in high quality.When it comes to selecting the source text and translating some sensitive plots,he violates the rules in translation,literary and even power fields.He chooses to translate a detective novel with Chinese themes when the trend of foreign detective novel translation is vigorous,and he faithfully translates some sensitive plots.Abiding by rules is to accumulate capital,but violating rules is based on the translator's unique literary,researcher,and author habitus,and the behaviors formed by the habitus may be beneficial to the development and progress of the fields.
