Objective To explore the effect of consistent and standardized management in indwelling peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC)for intravenous chemotherapy among patients with colorectal cancer.Method Ninety-six patients with colorectal cancer who were treated with intravenous chemotherapy via indwelling PICC following different clinical management were enrolled in the research as control group and study group, receiving routine management or consistent and standardized management in addition to routine care, respectively. The degree of comfort, incidence rate of complications and satisfaction rate during PICC line insertion were compared between the two groups of patients.Result During the line insertion period,95.83%of patients in study group felt comfortable, and it was higher compared to the 83.33%in control group(P<0.05);the overall incidence of complications in study group was 8.33%,which was significantly lower compared to control group at 25.00%(P<0.05);besides,a significantly higher satisfaction rate was observed in study group versus control group(P<0.01).Conclusion For colorectal cancer patients undergoing intravenous chemotherapy through indwelling PICC,the addition of consistent and standardized management on the basis of routine care can improve the degree of comfort for patients, reducing the incidence of complications, ameliorating prognosis, with higher satisfaction rate.
