Objective To investigate the effect of small incision thoracic esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. Methods 38 cases of patients with esophageal cancer admitted to our hospital from January 2017 to May 2019 were selected as the research objects, according to the random number method, they were divided into control group and observation group,19 cases in each group. The control group were given routine radical esophagectomy, while the observation group were given small incision thoracic esophageal cancer radical operation. The general condition of operation, the situation after operation and the occurrence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results The length of incision in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P<0.01).There were no significant differences in the operation time, intraoperative bleeding and lymph node dissection between the two groups(P>0.05).The time of getting out of bed, restoring normal diet and stopping analgesics in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was 5.26%,which was lower than 31.58%in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Small incision thoracic esophagectomy has a high clinical value in the treatment of esophageal cancer, with advantages of small wound, fast recovery and low incidence of complications.
