Objective: To explore the application effect of modified moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture in the treatment of patients with postoperative recurrence of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation. Methods: 88 patients with postoperative recurrence of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation admitted to our hospital from January 2017 to June 2018 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number method, they were divided into two groups. 44 patients in the control group were treated with electroacupuncture, and 44 patients in the study group were treated with modified moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture. Clinical efficacy, TCM symptom score, visual analogue scale(VAS), Oswestry dysfunction index questionnaire score, and β-endorphin levels were compared between the two groups. Results: The clinical effective rate of the study group(97.73%) was significantly higher than that of the control group(68.18%)(P< 0.05). After intervention, TCM syndrome score, VAS score and ODI in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P< 0.05), and β-endorphin levels in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Modified moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture had significant clinical efficacy, it could promote the recovery of patients’ body functions and significantly reduce the pain symptoms of patients in the treatment of patients with postoperative recurrence of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.
